Monica Zinn is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose films Perfection, a documentary about eating disorders, and Self Inflicted, which extensively explores Non Suicidal Self Injury, are educationally distributed worldwide by Human Relations Media. Self Inflicted won a Bronze Telly while Perfection was screened at film festivals across the country, winning Best Documentary at the Virginia Student Film Festival. Zinn’s work has been covered by various media outlets, including The Washington Post and Wired.com. Her film style focuses heavily on intimate interviews and creative visualizations of internal experience, and is typically void of strong narration, instead focusing on the voices of the characters. She has also worked on other documentaries such as Matthew Cooke's Survivor's Guide to Prison, Brad Coley's Our Little Roses Film, and Amy Berg's newest documentary series for HBO. Zinn continues to combine her passion for education, mental health advocacy, and storytelling and is working on her latest project, Psyched.
